About Tyler’s Legacy: Tyler Mayle loved music, was committed to excellence, was a natural leader, and took pride in the Windsor High School Marching Band.  Tyler also loved helping and serving others in any way he could. Tyler was the drum major for the Pride of Windsor in 2006, 2007, & 2008. In 2008 he directed the Pride of Windsor to 3A State Championship and also led the marching band down Pennsylvania Avenue at President Obama’s 2009 Inauguration Parade.  In 2013 Tyler lost his life in a tragic hiking accident. In his memory, the Mayle Family created the Tyler2Miler – a Fun Run/Walk to raise funds to help students who need financial assistance with marching band fees. In 2017 the Tyler2Miler was rebranded as Tyler’s Legacy, A Charitable Non-Profit Organization. Contributions are donated throughout the community in Tyler’s name. (Donations for this cause will be accepted on the day of the race.)

ORGANIZING THE WIZARD MAGIC 5K

The band parents and I met to start organizing the Wizard Magic 5K Fundraiser. Last year’s race was so much fun and I’m already getting excited for this year’s race to get underway.

If you are interested in helping out, contact me at lori@tylerslegacy.net and I will get you connected with one of the committees.

HISTORY BEHIND THE WIZARD MAGIC 5K

The first two years of this fundraiser was called, “The Tyler2Miler” in memory of WHS drum major Tyler Mayle. Donations were used to  assist marching  band members with fees associated with participation.

In 2016, the WHS Pride of Windsor Marching Band was invited to participate in the 75th Anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack. This amazing opportunity was going to cost a lot for the band members so Tyler’s family changed the Tyler2Miler to be a 5K Fun Run to raise money to help the band with the costs of the trip. The community was supportive and the fundraiser was a huge success.

Because of the fun and magical experience provided by the band members, it was decided to continue with hosting a 5K Fun Run/Walk as an annual fundraiser for the marching band. Thus, “The Wizard Magic 5K” was introduced as the new name in 2017.
